City of Kansas City

The Kansas City Council has approved a resolution to install at least 120 speed humps in neighborhoods around KCMO before the end of 2025.

  • My Humps: The city’s Public Works department installed 100 speed humps in 2024, and will expand upon that initiative by bringing at least 120 more to high-priority areas in 2025. These areas were identified through crash data, speeding trends, and resident feedback.

  • Slow Down: This project is a part of Kansas City’s Vision Zero, and will come at no additional fiscal impact beyond 2025. (all funding is coming from existing resources) Construction on the new speed humps are expected to begin this fall.
