Kansas City Coffee Shop Guide

KC Daily’s Guide to Coffee Shops in Kansas City ☕️

Move over, Seattle. Kansas City’s coffee scene is becoming a national powerhouse and has unique concepts for every type of drinker. Here are some of our favorites!

📍1624 Grand

Messenger Coffee Co. is a coffee destination in the Crossroads that offers a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for coffee enthusiasts. Being one of the premier roasters in the city, they serve an array of specialty coffees brewed to perfection. Complemented by a delicious menu of pastries baked in-house by Ibis Bakery, it's a must-visit when visitors are in town.

📍 5012 State Line Rd.

If any coffee shop can claim the term “small, but mighty”, Hi Hat would be it. Their iconic building on State Line Road is TINY, but the vibes are anything but. Serving up a variety of lattes, espressos, teas, and more; Hi Hat has something for everyone. Be sure to get it to go (you kinda have to based on the amount of seating…) and take a stroll through the fairytale-like neighborhoods of West Plaza and Westwood Hills.

How many coffee shops can you name that have a motorcycle theme? Nestled deep in the West Bottoms, this industrial space serves up home-roasted beans alongside their wholesale offerings. In addition to coffee staples, Blip offers cupping events and seasonal offerings to keep you coming back for more than just First Fridays in the Bottoms.

Café Corazón is a Latino-owned shop with locations in the Crossroads and Westport that specializes in freshly roasted coffee and Yerba Mate. Drawing inspiration from multiple South American countries, many drinks on their menu can’t be found in other shops anywhere in the city. Not a morning person? Not to worry, they serve alcoholic beverages for those wanting an extra kick!

📍548 Central Ave, KCK

Our favorite coffee spot in the “other” Kansas City. Calling the Strawberry Hill neighborhood home since 2017, Splitlog prides itself on being “the friendliest shop in the city”. If you’re in a hurry, go through their drive-thru and grab yourself a spiced pear latte and scone to help you take on your day.

📍916 E 5th St.

Being Kansas City’s first Vietnamese coffee shop, Cafe Cà Phê aims to bring a familial aspect of coffee culture to Kansas City. Initially launched as a simple pop-up, then a coffee truck, and now a brick-and-mortar location in Columbus Park. The drinks here are a unique experience; colorful, sweet, and legit.

📍4141 Troost Ave

Oddly Correct has built a reputation as one of the city’s premier shops by serving up some of the finest espressos and pour-overs in the area (at one point they didn’t serve cream or sugar as to not take away from the experience). Not a black coffee drinker? Not to worry, the Bourbon Vanilla Latte is one of the most popular in the city. Oh, and the art…

We’d be remiss if we wrote about the Kansas City craft coffee scene and didn’t mention The Roasterie. Since 1993, The Roasterie has been serving coffee to Kansas Citians and now boasts eight locations across the metro. Their flagship location, The Factory, right off Southwest Boulevard can’t be missed with the airplane on the roof that appears to be taking off into the KC skyline.
