The Margaritaville Hotel Kansas City is officially open

Celebrate Juneteenth at The Arcade (211 W. Armour Blvd) on Friday, June 20, from 5–8 PM. The Juneteenth Jamboree is co-hosted by KC Black Owned and features Black-owned vendors, a live DJ, Urban Food Truck & Sweet Peaches Cobblers, and brews from Vine Street Brewing (21+). Entry is free, just RSVP for your ticket!

Margaritaville Hotel Kansas City Officially Opens Its Doors

It’s 5 o’clock somewhere! That “somewhere” is the Margaritaville Hotel Kansas City which officially opened its doors yesterday.

  • Hometown Vacation: The all-new island-inspired, resort-style hotel opened its doors to guests just yesterday at 1491 N. 98th Terrace in KCK. The hotel features 228 guest rooms, 11 suites, four food & drink destinations including the Landshark Bar & Grill, indoor and outdoor pools, and 14,000 square feet of event space.

  • Stay & Play: The hotel is offering a series of opening offers and stay packages including the License to Chill Grand Opening Offer, Kansas and Missouri Resident Staycation package, Lovers’ Retreat, and the First Sip of Paradise. The hotel is a perfect place for both staycations for KC area residents, as well as a destination for out-of-town visitors.

  • Short & Sweet: Lace up and meet us at Brooksider Sportsbar & Grill on Saturday, June 28th for the laziest, yet most rewarding race you’ll ever do! All race proceeds support The Farmer's House mission to empower the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.

  • Village People: The race starts at the back door, and ends at the front door. The exact distance? Questionable. Effort level? Minimal. Fun level? Maximum. Registration includes a t-shirt and a cold beer. No training, no problem! Just bring your thirst and your sense of humor.

The Rabbit hOle Introduces Immersive, Cover-to-Cover Exhibit

The Rabbit hOle in North Kansas City is launching its largest exhibit yet, a fully immersive adaptation of Tomi Ungerer’s classic picture book The Three Robbers.

  • Book to Life: Spanning 2,500 square feet, the experience guides visitors through the full story, featuring detailed sculptural environments, stop-motion stations, and an original score. Designed by The Rabbit hOle’s in-house team, it brings Ungerer’s world to life in collaboration with his daughter and publisher.

  • Journey Together: The exhibit runs through December 31st, 2025, and includes special programming and a global symposium in September. Guests must be 5 years or older, and a separate ticket is required for $10 in addition to museum admission. The exhibition is led by a Rabbit hOle guide, and will take 30-40 minutes.

JuneteenthKC Heritage Festival Takes Over 18th & Vine this Saturday

Over 25,000 visitors are expected to visit the 18th & Vine Historic Jazz District this Saturday (6/21) for the 14th annual JuneteenthKC Heritage Festival.

  • Freedom Day: Juneteenth is officially celebrated on June 19th to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the U.S. in 1865, but the JuneteenthKC Heritage Festival will happen this Saturday from noon - 10pm at 18th & Vine.

  • Live on Stage: A huge lineup of events is scheduled for Saturday: live music, the 14th Annual JuneteenthKC Gospel Jubilee, dance performances, a kids zone until 5pm, local vendors, and more. There are VIP passes available offering swag, access to cooling areas, VIP restrooms, and more amenities.

  • 🛒 Joe Goes to Merriam: Trader Joe’s has filed a building permit at the northwest corner of Shawnee Mission Parkway and Antioch Road in Merriam. If all goes to plan, this would be the third Trader Joe’s location in the metro, joining Ward Parkway Shopping Center and Town Center Crossing.
