Six Places to Find Live Jazz in Kansas City 🎷

Today is International Jazz Day! We’re celebrating Kansas City’s rich history of jazz by highlighting six of our favorite places to take in live jazz across our city:

Green Lady Lounge is a beloved Kansas City jazz club known for its dimly-lit atmosphere and live performances featuring top local jazz musicians 365 days a year. With no TVs or distractions, it offers a pure, immersive jazz experience in the heart of the Crossroads Arts District.

📍1809 Grand Blvd

Lonnie’s Reno Club, nestled beneath the Ambassador Hotel in downtown, offers an elegant supper club experience that pays homage to the city's rich jazz heritage. Founded by local jazz legend Lonnie McFadden, the venue features live performances complemented by a three-course prix fixe menu and classic 1930s-era cocktails in a vintage-inspired setting.

📍1111 Grand Blvd

The Blue Room, located within Kansas City's American Jazz Museum, is a historic jazz club that pays homage to the city's rich musical heritage. Named after the original 1930s venue in the Street Hotel, this intimate club offers live performances multiple nights a week, showcasing both local and national jazz talent in a setting that doubles as a living exhibit.

📍1600 E. 18th St.

Black Dolphin is a jazz venue in Kansas City, operated by the owners of Green Lady Lounge and located right next door, offering a classic, speakeasy-style atmosphere. With top-tier local jazz acts and vintage decor, it provides a cozy, upscale experience for serious jazz enthusiasts.

📍1813 Grand Blvd

Uptown Lounge is an upscale piano bar and cocktail lounge in Kansas City's Midtown, offering live music five nights a week in a sophisticated setting. Known for its singing bartender and a repertoire ranging from jazz standards to contemporary hits, it provides a memorable nightlife experience.

📍3400 Main St.

The Phoenix is a historic jazz club and restaurant located in Kansas City's Garment District, offering live music six nights a week, including jazz, blues, soul, and R&B performances. Housed in a building dating back to 1888, it features a popular weekend jazz brunch with signature dishes like chicken and waffles, complemented by craft cocktails and a welcoming atmosphere.
