Children’s Mercy Announces $1B Expansion to Adele Hall Campus Downtown
Yesterday, Children’s Mercy announced a $1 billion expansion to its Adele Hall campus in downtown Kansas City.
Healthy Future: Children's Mercy is one of only 28 freestanding pediatric hospitals in the U.S., serving a multi-state region. This expansion will grow the hospital's total capacity by 25 to 30 percent, and will be supported by private-public investments. A video with detailed renderings shows a new tower just steps from the upcoming Royals’ stadium near Crown Center. (see below)
What's Coming: The new tower will feature an expanded PICU, NICU, and Emergency Department, a state-of-the-art surgical center with robotics capability, improved clinical flow for care teams, spaces designed to translate research into real-world treatments, and more natural light, green space, and family-centered areas throughout.
A 2031 completion is expected, with enabling work beginning this fall.
