What’s On Stage Across Kansas City in July?
The following list was graciously compiled by Mark Edelman, the founder and president of Theater League. Mark is a playwright who loves writing about theater.
While soccer fans fall in love with our town, don’t forget that part of what makes KC great is our cultural scene. Check out these shows playing on KC stages in July, and you’ll remember why:
LEGALLY BLONDE
Overland Park’s own Broadway star Hayley Podschun—so great as Galinda in “Wicked” in NYC and on tour—trades in her Emerald City slippers for the stiletto heels of a Valley girl out on the town. Dumped by her high school boyfriend who thinks she’s a dumb blonde, Hayley as Elle Woods follows the cad to Harvard law school, where the Malibu princess turns out to be one smart cookie. TICKETS.
A BEAUTIFUL NOISE
The story of Neil Diamond’s remarkable musical career, told in a flashback as the now-retired songwriter looks back on a life not totally well-led. But, hey, the guy wrote “Sweet Caroline”… what more did he need to do. That song and several dozen by Diamond are featured in this non-stop rocking show. TICKETS.
