The Royals Name Crown Center Its Future Home
The stadium saga is officially over. The Kansas City Royals will build a new ballpark and mixed-use district at Crown Center and Washington Square Park.
A Royal Throne: The Royals and Hallmark Cards are teaming up on an 85-acre development surrounding a park-like central square with fountains, representing $2 billion or more in expected private investment. The project includes a world-class ballpark, mixed-use development, and reimagined headquarters for both the Royals and Hallmark.
Crowns Remain: According to conceptual renderings from Populous, the stadium would be located on the current Hallmark HQ near Gillham Rd and E. 26th St. The project will create more than 20,000 construction jobs, support 1,000 union jobs on every game day, and will not bring any new taxes or large special taxing districts.
Take a look at the proposed district. 👇

The Brookside Art Annual Returns May 1-3
One of Kansas City’s favorite art festivals returns with the 40th Annual Brookside Art Annual, kicking off Friday, May 1st, and running through Sunday, May 3rd.
Art at Home: This year’s event will feature nearly 180 artists from across the country setting up along 63rd Street and Brookside Boulevard. This year's featured artist is Colorado sculptor Scott Hildebrandt, nicknamed "Mister Christmas," who creates miniature scenes inside repurposed vintage items. His work has been commissioned by Netflix and HBO Max, and he'll be at Booth #155.
Best in Show: The Brookside Art Annual is consistently ranked a top 25 show nationally by ArtSource, and serves as KC's first major outdoor art show of the year. Beyond the art, there's delicious food and drinks, plus crafts and activities for kids. The best part? Admission is free!

Kansas City is a Top Summer Travel Destination for 2026
Kansas City ranks No. 1 on Travel + Leisure's list of trending summer domestic travel destinations for 2026, compiled from Google Flights data measuring year-over-year increases in flight searches.
A Reason Why: To nobody’s surprise, the spike is largely driven by Kansas City's role as a 2026 FIFA World Cup™ host city, with six matches coming to Kansas City Stadium, including a quarterfinal. An estimated 650,000 visitors are expected to pour into the city for the tournament, which runs from June 11 to July 19.
No Beach, No Problem: Google data also highlights the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium and the Regnier Family Wonderscope Children's Museum as top attractions drawing visitors. Our world-class barbecue doesn’t hurt either.
For those curious, St. Maarten, Sint Maarten is the No. 1 international destination this summer. See the full list of top destinations HERE.
