  • We’re Flattered: The CONMEBOL Copa América soccer tournament is a soccer tournament involving all of the national soccer teams across all of North America. 14 stadiums were chosen as hosts for the 16-team tournament.

  • Home Field Advantage: Team USA will play the group stage finale at Arrowhead Stadium on July 1st while Children's Mercy Park will host a game featuring either Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, or Jamaica.

Development

A Plaza Out East

GLMV Architecture

Lee’s Summit’s Downtown is seeing development as construction begins on a project very close to City Hall.

  • Out With The Old: The Downtown Market Plaza is a development joint effort between the city and Lane4 Property Group. The project, which has been in the works for some time, will repurpose a 4-acre site northeast of Green and Third Streets.

  • In With The New: The Downtown Market Plaza’s first phase will feature a four-season farmer’s market and event space, an outdoor performance area covered by an overhead canopy, and a streetscape pavilion.

  • The *Future*: Eventually the development will house a four-story, 80-room boutique hotel, a 10,000 square-foot restaurant and entertainment space, and a five-story, 190-unit apartment complex.

After a unanimous vote from Lee’s Summit City Council to approve the $120M project, construction could begin in the first three months of 2024 with a targeted completion date of Spring 2025.
