Adult Only Putt-Putt
A new upscale putt-putt experience opens on the Plaza, a Pizza pop up finds its home on Martini Corner, and Roeland Park sees more development.
Byrd’s Pecans started in 1964 as a pecan farm located south of Kansas City and in 2014, the granddaughter of the original owners opened Byrd’s Pecan Delights. Sourcing local products along with using pecans from their 600-acre farm, they serve breakfast all day, sandwiches, homemade ice cream, and (of course) pecan pies. Adult Only Putt-Putt

Puttery
Happy Thursday, Kansas City! A new adult-only upscale mini-golf experience is opening today on the Plaza.
Honoring Tradition: Puttery, created by Drive Shack Inc., will open on September 14th inside the Jack Henry Building, offering three nine-hole putting courses with unique decor inspired by themes like art museums, conservatories, and rooftops. This 24,000-square-foot venue can host up to 450 people and is exclusively for adults aged 21 and over.
Music and Dance: Besides golf, Puttery provides a range of delicious snacks, from berries and cream mini jars to sous vide pork belly and veggie potstickers, paired with an assortment of wines, beers, and signature cocktails, like the BBQ on a Saturday Night.
Food And Drink: While many other entertainment options were in the running for the Jack Henry Building, when the developers visited the Texas location of Puttery it was clear that it was "best-in-class and far superior" to the competition.
Puttery opens today on the Plaza. Customers must be 21 years old and up to enter. You can book your $18 round on Puttery’s website here.

Pop-Ups To Permanent Pizzeria

Devoured
Devoured Pizza, a pandemic-born pizza sensation, is leveling up by opening a permanent 20-seat location in Martini Corner called Orange by: Devoured.
Poppin Off: Started as a backyard pizza operation for friends and family during the pandemic by owner Jhy Coulter, Devoured Pizza has been doing pop-ups and farmer’s markets for three years and is now ready to have a home base.
New Neapolitan: Orange by: Devoured specializes in what they call "neo-Neapolitan-style pizza," using eclectic, fresh, and simple ingredients that make their pies stand out. Along side that they plan to serve small but might snack plates as well.
It Takes A Village: Part of what makes Orange by: Devoured a fun story for the locals is the fact that some of the funds used to start the restaurant were actually raised through crowdfunding efforts that Coulter made at her pop-ups.
While the final schedule hasn't been set, the pizza joint is aiming to open its doors in the next six months. You can still invest in the restaurant on its website here.
Development
Roeland Park on The Rocks

EPC Real Estate
Roeland Park City Council has given the green light for a $75 million mixed-use development at The Rocks site, 4800 W. Roe Blvd.
Rocking Along: The development plans include a 280-unit apartment complex, a 3,500-square foot restaurant with outdoor dining space, a parking garage, electric vehicle charging stations, fitness facilities, and more.
Next Steps: The development group, EPC, purchased the land from Roeland park earlier this month. They have until October 18th to submit a preliminary plan that then will be subject to a community vote later in November. If that goes through, EPC can proceed at The Rocks.
Busy Bees: If the EPC name sounds familiar to you, it may be from the other development projects they have across the metro. EPC currently is building a family subdivsion in OP, a 200-unit apartment in Lenexa, and a 246-unit apartment in the River Market.
EPC Real Estate Group plans to break ground later this year, aiming for completion by the end of 2025. To read more about the project, check out this article from the Shawnee Mission Post.
