A New Australian Café is Coming to the West Bottoms

Two Hands Nashville

Two Hands Hospitality, the popular all-day Australian café concept with locations in New York, Nashville, Denver, and Dallas, will open its first Kansas City location in the West Bottoms.

  • All New: The 3,425-square-foot full-service restaurant and bar will open on the ground floor of the reimagined Moline Plow Building, a 120-year-old landmark being restored into 121 loft-style residences and 23,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. Two Hands is the first retail tenant in SomeraRoad's $500 million West Bottoms redevelopment.

  • Australian Tastes: Two Hands is known for its design-forward spaces, community-oriented hospitality, and Australian-inspired menus spanning breakfast (“Brekky”), lunch, dinner, and cocktails.

Two Hands will be located at 1015 Mulberry St., and an opening is expected in Q1 of 2027.

Museum of BBQ Celebrating Henry Perry Day Tomorrow, July 3rd

Museum of BBQ

The Museum of BBQ is celebrating Henry Perry Day tomorrow, July 3rd, with free admission, a BBQ sampling, and a community gathering honoring the man who started it all.

  • Story of BBQ: Henry Perry began selling smoked meats in KC's Garment District in 1908, building the loyal following that made Kansas City one of the country's great barbecue cities. In 2020, Mayor Quinton Lucas formally proclaimed July 3rd as Henry Perry Day, marking the centennial of a community barbecue where Perry fed more than 1,000 Kansas Citians.

  • ‘Que for a Cause: Perry's granddaughter Bernetta McKindra, founder of the Henry Perry Foundation, will be on-site sharing stories about her grandfather's legacy and the Foundation's work supporting childcare scholarships and community awareness. Sponsor Prairie Fresh is donating the equivalent of the day's ticket proceeds to the Henry Perry Foundation in place of admission fees.

Stop by the Museum of BBQ at 2450 Grand Blvd. this Friday from 10am to 6pm. The first 100 guests receive a complimentary smoked rib cooked on-site by Burnt End Barbecue!
