Happy Monday, Kansas City! By now, you probably know about the KC Wheel going up overlooking downtown. What you probably don’t know is that the Neon Alley below it may be the main attraction.
Thanks Lumi: Curated by The Lumi Neon Museum, Neon Alley will be illuminated with restored neon signs, including the iconic Katz Drug Stores logo, creating a vibrant homage to the city's history.
Under The Lights: Neon Alley will feature 40 rescued neon signs, each with a unique story. The walkable space, set to open in 2024, merges history and artistry, inviting the community to stroll through a dazzling cluster of iconic neon throwbacks.
Classics Reborn: The Katz Drug Stores sign, recreated by Fossil Forge, will be a rotating 10-foot masterpiece, capturing the essence of the city's vibrant history. Additionally, the alley will showcase signs rescued from the old Kansas City Downtown Airport.
Neon Alley is estimated to open as soon as next spring. Meanwhile, the KC Wheel in Pennway Point will open in November.

Fly Me To The Moon(Or At Least Burbank)

This week, Mayor Quinton Lucas announced that Southwest Airlines will be adding several new flights out of KC, many of them direct.
I See The Hollywood Sign: Notably, Southwest is adding a daily direct flight to Burbank, California, and a Sunday-only direct to Columbus, Ohio.
Summer Vacay: This coming summer 2024, Southwest will also add several daily directs including Baltimore/Washington, Nashville, Pensacola, and St Louis.
Wanna Get Away?: Additionally, Southwest is adding several weekend-only direct flights to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Raleigh-Durham.
After adding weekly international flights and expanding its direct-flight offerings, Southwest Airlines seems poised to ride the wave of KCI’s success after another month of smashing records.

After having to wait through several delays, Overland Parkers can rejoice that their new Whole Foods location is finally opening next month.
Bigger is Better: The new, 45,791 square foot grocery store will be opening its doors on November 15th at 11900 Metcalf Avenue.
Worth the Wait: Whole Foods was delayed several times from its initial opening target of spring 2023 due to a chip shortage that which led to major hold-ups.
Support Local: This newest location will feature several local brands such as tortillas from Yoli Tortilleria and body butter from Two Niles Co.
The newest Whole Foods grocery store will be the Amazon brand’s third store in the metro. The new store will have the traditional operating hours of 8 am to 9 pm daily.
