Mariah Carey, the musician most known for only wanting you for Christmas, is coming to the T-Mobile Center for her holiday tour.

  • More Famous Than Santa: Since Spotify launched in 2008, Mariah Carey’s rendition of “All I Want for Christmas is You” has over 1.4 billion plays. Thanks to all of that success, you can’t think of Christmas music without thinking of Mariah Carey.

  • Happy Christmas: Now, Mariah Carey will take that holiday cheer on the road for her “Merry Christmas One and All” tour which stops in KC on November 24th.

  • She’s Making A List: The uber-famous holiday musician announced last week on Twitter that her tour will have 13 stops ending in NYC just before Christmas.

What Comes Before A Prefix?

Prefix Coffee

Made In KC is partnering with Prefix Coffee to take over two of their current MIKC Cafes in the Midtown area.

  • Before The Prefix: Prefix Coffee, a locally grown coffee brand had been looking to expand as its owners had founded its predecessor in 2014 and began roasting their own beans in 2018. If it sounds familiar, you may have picked up something from its roasting label, Notion Coffee.

  • Shifting Focus: Opportunity struck for Prefix Coffee when Made In KC decided that it wanted to focus more of its attention on scaling the other 7 cafes it owned and looked for someone to take over. Prefix already had been building its brand thanks in part to partnering with Fox and Bull Baking Co.

  • New Digs: Prefix took over the leases in Midtown at 325 E. 31st St. and inside the downtown Lightwell Building at 1100 Main St. in the last 2 months.

You can visit Prefix’s midtown locations Monday-Saturday from 7 am-5 pm, and Sunday from 8-2.

How Much Would You Pay For KC’s Second Skyscraper?

The Scarritt

Kansas City's iconic Scarritt Building and the adjacent Arcade are going up for online auction later this month on October 16-18th.

  • Old Neighbors: Previous owners, Augustine Development Group of Florida, paid just over 7.5 million for the property but were never able to make good on their vision of renovating the building into a hotel and co-working space.

  • Fresh Eats: Now, the Scarritt Building and the Arcade building next door will go up for auction with the bidding starting at $4 million. Whoever wins the bid will also receive several million dollars in tax incentives already granted to the building’s new potential owner.

  • Change Can Be Hard: Built in 1906, The Scarritt Building is said to be one of the original skyscrapers in Kansas City. Sadly, however, the building has been empty for many years, facing several issues such as water damage and theft.

To read more about the Scarritt Building’s auction, check out this article from the Kansas City Business Journal. Obviously, we’ll keep you posted on what plans the new owners have in the future.
