And We’re Back!

Kansas City Chiefs X

Happy Monday, Kansas City! For the second year in a row and the 4th time in 5 years, the Chiefs will play in the Super Bowl.

  • Making History: Pat, Travis, and Andy all led the team to a masterful effort against the Ravens. If the Chiefs can win their second straight Super Bowl they would be the first team to do so since the 03-04 Patriots.

  • Shout-Outs All Around: Twitter X was ablaze with Chiefs players, media, and former NFL players praising the team’s success. Not to mention shout-outs from just about every team’s college programs.

  • Can She? Will She?: Now that we can look forward to the Super Bowl it’s time to answer the hard question- can Taylor Swift attend? Some internet sleuths think she can finish a concert in Tokyo and make it in time for kickoff.

The Chiefs will square off in Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers, a rematch of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory in 2020.

Sound The Alarm

KC Daily

This month, the city of Kansas City issued a permit to build a new home, which is noteworthy as it’s the first new home build approved in over 100 days.

  • Not In My City!: In September, KCMO approved a new bill that heightened the requirements for efficiency in homebuilding, however, due to a lack of government assistance in navigating the new regulations there has only been one approved out of over 80 applicants since.

  • Backfiring?: It appears that the hope of having more energy-efficient homes in KC led to 2023 having the lowest number of single-family permits in 10 years.

  • Building For The Future: Home builders say that beyond difficulties working with local officials, the new cost of efficiency could make buyers balk. Though the program could save $2500 per year, home builders say the new requirements cost 15-20k more upfront.

The Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City sees the new permit approval as a positive sign of things to come with the hope of more single-family homes being built in 2024, meeting a massive demand.
