Vintage ‘78 Sets A New Standard for KC Wine Scene

KC Daily

Vintage ‘78, a wine bar in Downtown Overland Park, opened two months ago and is making a splash in the local wine community as a contender for the best wine bar in the area.

  • Pruning Process: While Covid put a halt on many businesses, it gave owner Michael Scherzberg the opportunity to select a location and recruit a team of passionate wine connoisseurs who had one goal- to be the best wine bar in the country.

  • The Selection: One thing that comes with over 75 years of combined experience in the industry, is a wide selection that can fit almost any palate. Currently, Vintage ‘78 has one of the largest selections of wine in the Midwest.

  • Everything Else: Don’t think they just stop at wine. Vintage ‘78 also serves a variety of charcuterie, cheeses, sandwiches, and more created by Chef Kyle, as well as a wide selection of cocktails on the menu if wine isn’t your thing.

You can check out Vintage ‘78 in the heart of Downtown OP on 80th Street next to Parisi Coffee. Open every weekend, you can pop in or make a reservation from 4:30 pm to 10 pm on Mondays and Thursdays, 4:30 to 11 pm on Fridays, and open from 11:30 am on Saturdays and Sundays.

Archer Hits The Mark

Kansas City Business Journal

Archer, the Overland Park-based software-as-a-service(SAAS) company, appears to have sold for around $1.37B to a private equity firm in the UK.

  • Archer: Archer was founded in 2001 as an integrated risk management software that helps companies determine and mitigate risk while managing compliance metrics within their software.

  • Buyers Wanted: In January, Archer’s parent company RSA Security began looking for a bidder to purchase Archer, which had in the past several years rolled out many new products and shown an ability to maintain profitability, something easier said than done in 2023’s economy.

  • The Deal: While much of the deal is still under wraps, Bloomberg reported earlier this week that RSA had made a sale of over $1B leaving the writing on the wall after it was announced in April that UK-based Cinven would likely make the purchase.

It would appear that Archer maintains roughly 150 KC-area employees according to their LinkedIn. For more information on the deal, check out this article or go to Archer’s website here.
