Two Kansas City Attractions Named 10Best Finalists by USA Today

KC Daily

Two Kansas City attractions have been named finalists in USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. The 10Best awards program showcases the best of the best across various travel and lifestyle categories, including destinations, food and drink, attractions, and more. Here are KC’s two nominees:

🎥 Atlas9 - Best New Attraction

  • Atlas9 is slightly hard to explain without a visit, but we’ll give it a shot: it’s an immersive art experience set in a transformed 1990s movie theater where movie scenes come to life through interactive installations, performers, and a mysterious narrative visitors can explore.

🍖 Museum of BBQ - Best New Museum

  • The Museum of BBQ is the world's first museum dedicated to barbecue, featuring interactive exhibits exploring the elements and regional styles from Kansas City, Memphis, and the Carolinas. No trip is complete without a dive into the bean ball pit. (see below)

Rumor has it there’s a burnt end hiding in here.

An Update on American Fire in Fairway

KC Daily

Plans for a new restaurant in Fairway called American Fire are heating up.

  • Restaurant Renovation: According to the KCBJ, restaurant group W. VinZant Restaurants will propose a $3.3 million renovation to the Fairway City Council for the 6,000-square-foot building at 2820 W. 53rd St. The building was the former home of Houlihan’s, which closed in 2019. Renovations would include exterior brick repair, a new patio & entry, and enhanced landscaping.

  • On Fire: American Fire was first announced in August as an upscale American eatery offering a rotating menu. W. VinZant Restaurants also operates local restaurants like Gram & Dun, BRGR, Waldo Pizza, Cafe Trio, and more.

If approved, renovation work is expected to begin in February and be completed by August 2026.
