The demolition of the old Buck O’Neil bridge in downtown KCMO began on Thursday morning.
Unwelcome Traffic: The demolition of the bridge comes after years worth of construction on a new bridge over the Missouri River, which began in 2021. Northbound traffic was rerouted to the new bridge in late January.
Boom Goes the Dynamite: See the moment the first of three explosions took down the bridge, captured by KC Star photojournalist Nick Wagner.
Patience is Key: Over 3 years of work and $258M later, the MoDOT hopes to have the entirety of the project completed by the end of 2024. A welcome sight to those who have fought downtown traffic for the past few years!

Since legalizing marijuana in February of 2023, Missouri has generated $1.3B in sales.
The Numbers are In: Generating over $1B from recreational marijuana alone, Missouri is the sixth-largest cannabis market in the United States. That’s nearly $4M in cannabis sales per day!
Doing Their Homework: Millions of dollars in proceeds are going to beneficial causes, including the Missouri Veterans Commission and the Missouri State Public Defender System. People within the industry, such as Greenlight Dispensary CEO John Mueller, say the Missouri DHSS has built a favorable environment in Missouri as compared to many other states.
