Ultimate Destination: Developers have acquired 180 acres at 118th St. and State Avenue to build Destination KCK, a $539 million entertainment development featuring the Mattel Adventure Park, a lakeside resort, retail, and hospitality. A site clearance permit is in process, and vertical construction is set to begin by October 2027.

Barbie’s World: The theme park was initially annouced in March of 2024, and the area was established as a STAR Bond District in April of 2024. The park will include Hot Wheels roller coasters, a Barbie Beach House with rooftop restaurant and bar, a Thomas & Friends attraction, and more.
