KC Daily
Barrio KC, the beloved Mexican restaurant from Red Bridge, Briarcliff, and Brookside, will open its new location today in Martini Corner near 31st and Gillham.
A New Barrio: Barrio, meaning “neighborhood”, is expanding its presence into the former Sol Cantina building at 408 E. 31st St just down the street from Union Hill and Children’s Mercy Hospital.
Your Patio Will Be Jealous: Not only will the restaurant feature a new bar and dining room area, but the main attraction will be the 62-seat rooftop bar. Talk about vibes.
Turning the Corner: This opening is just the latest of many establishments to bring new life to Martini Corner area including Brewer’s Kitchen, a Made in KC location, the rejuvenated Acme Apartment Building, and the newly opened Noka, a Japanese farmhouse restaurant.
Martini Corner Barrio Taqueria opens today from 11:30 am to 10 pm.

Mahomes and Kelce Invest In The Kingdom

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have made roughly $145M from the Chiefs so far in their careers, and it appears portions of that money have made their way back into the community through investing.
Local Buzz: News in the financial world show that Travis and Patrick have both invested heavily in KC-based companies like Community America Credit Union, Airshare, TFL, and Helzberg Diamonds.
Winning Investments: Patrick has also made waves in recent years and planted his flag in KC, becoming a part owner in both the Kansas City Royals, Sporting KC, and most recently the KC Current alongside his wife Brittany.
Finances For Athletes: Tying in even more investment to the area is the Doman Group, a group within KC-based financial planning firm Creative Planning, that helps athletes navigate their way through investing.
Time will tell how involved the KC transplants remain after their football careers are over, but one thing is certain- Travis and Patrick are using their compensations to build Kansas City companies.

New Apartments in Brookside

Brookside Commons
The joint venture between Sunflower Development Group and Platform Ventures LLC, the Brookside Commons, will open on July 1st on the corner of Rockhill and 65th.
Final Piece: The third, and final installment of the Brookside Commons, will open this coming week bringing the total number of apartments available to 212 studio, one, and two-bedroom apartments.
Filling Up: Since breaking ground in 2020, the Commons have reached 100% capacity on the first 2 buildings, and they are already at 50% before opening the final piece.
Poolside in Brookside: Part of the success of the Brookside Commons definitely has to come from the ridiculous level of amenities. Fully loaded smart homes, a dog park, a fitness center, and a pool are almost unheard of in the area generally void of apartments.
As Sunflower and Platform Ventures put the finishing touches, there are still apartments available on their website offering luxury apartment living and that classic, quaint Brookside charm.
