The World Series of Barbecue Is Here

American Royal
Happy Monday, Kansas City! The American Royal World Series Of Barbecue returns this weekend to KC at the Kansas City Speedway.
Friendly Competition: The World Series of BBQ is open to any team. However, in order to compete for Grand Champion a team must compete in all 4 categories, Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork Shoulder, and Beef Brisket.
More Than Competition: Beyond the BBQ competition, visitors can come and enjoy a laid back atmosphere on the Speedway lawn as well as a set of live concerts.
Food And Drink: If you’re new to the event, you can bring the whole family to watch the biggest names in BBQ battle it out. If you’re more of a serious BBQ fan, you can submit to be a judge.
The American Royal World Series of Barbecue starts today and will run until October 1st. For more information or to purchase tickets, check out the American Royal website here.

Cinder Block Brewery
Two local breweries helped Kansas City continue its winning streak at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF).
Juicy Win: North Kansas City’s Cinder Block Brewery secured a silver medal for its Juicy Pilsner in a competitive category with 90 entries. This is their second medal at the GABF following their 2017 Northtown Native beer.
Asian Influence: Meanwhile, Shawnee-based Pathlight Brewing claimed a bronze medal in the Herbs and Spices category for its unique Thai-inspired rice lager, Kha Point. Brewer, Tanner Vaughn, said he thought of the beer over a cup of Thai Tom Kha soup.
Kind Of A Big Deal: The Great American Beer Fest, in its 37th year, featured over 9,000 beers judged from 2,000+ breweries, resulting in 303 medals awarded. This is the 7th consecutive year at least one KC brewery took home a medal.
You can visit Cinder Block Brewery 7 days a week at 110 East 18th Ave in North KC. You can try Pathlight Brewing in Shawnee on weekdays starting at 9 and on the weekends starting at noon.
Development
The Power Of Teamwork

NSPJ Architects
Block Real Estate Services has partnered with Sunflower Development Group to move forward on the building of a luxury apartment at 4627 Madison Ave.
Rising Prices And Skylines: The two developers paved the way forward after Block Real Estate initially put their plans for the complex on hold due to high interest rates driving the cost of the development up.
Plaza Living: The 10-story development, which was unveiled this week by the two developers, will feature a pool with a swim-up bar, covered grill area, clubhouse, fitness center, and dog park among other things. The 213 units will be divided between studio, one-bed, and two-bed apartments.
Big Things Coming: The development comes just months after the Plaza approved plans for a 338-unit complex along Belleview. One thing is certain, however, the Plaza is getting an overhaul toward new, luxury-style apartments.
