Harp Barbecue is Moving to Overland Park

Harp Barbecue

Pack up the smoker! Harp Barbecue is moving across State Line from Raytown to Overland Park.

  • New House: Since launching as a pop-up outside of Crane Brewing in Raytown in 2019, Tyler Harp has become a household name in the Kansas City barbecue scene. He’s now bringing his Texas-style BBQ to 12094 Quivira Road in Overland Park (the former Pizza Shuttle).

  • Same Smoke: The menu won’t change. Harp will still serve fan favorites such as brisket, sausages, burnt ends, and ribs. The new location will be open from Wednesday to Saturday, open from lunch until they sell out.

According to their website, Harp Barbecue expects to be open in late summer/early fall.

Development

Opening of the Rock Island Bridge Pushed to 2025

Rock Island Bridge

Developers of the Rock Island Bridge announced on Friday that the project would not be completed this summer as previously expected.

  • I Just Wanna Rock: The ambitious project of building America’s first entertainment district over a river was never going to be easy. Although the grand opening was delayed until the spring of 2025, the public will now be able to take guided tours to see the progress.

  • Worth the Wait: The bridge will span the Kansas River and connect Kansas to the West Bottoms in Missouri. The century-old bridge will feature restaurants, bars, live music, and access to recreational activities on the river.

Moon Bar to Open a Permanent Space in Columbus Park

Moon Bar

Japanese-inspired pop-up cocktail concept Moon Bar now has a permanent space in Columbus Park.

  • To the Moon: Owner Saranya Hubbard will run two concepts out of one space in Columbus Park: Tian Tea House by day and Moon Bar by night. An opening date is not set.

  • Big City Inspiration: Hubbard’s inspiration for the Japanese-style cocktail bar comes from the famed NYC bar Angel’s Share. Her creations include milk-washed Thai tea, a mango-sticky rice cocktail, kaffir lime lychee soda, and a Japanese melon cream soda.

Follow along with Moon Bar to be kept up-to-date on an opening date and pop-ups in the meantime!
