Atlas9 Officially Opens This Thursday, September 25

Atlas9, the highly anticipated interactive art experience set inside a transformed 90s movie theater, officially opens this week.
Reel World: Atlas9 is a 45,000+ square foot interactive playground featuring . We were able to get a sneak peek this weekend, and it did not disappoint. Secret rooms, live performances from Quixotic, a hidden speakeasy (that serves cocktails like a buttered popcorn old fashioned), a nostalgic pizza parlor & arcade, and so many more surprises.
The Objective: Atlas9 is an ever-evolving “narrative-driven immersive art experience”, meaning no two visits will be alike. Guests are tasked with finding 70 “anomalies” throughout the facility and scanning them with a wristband, and using clues scattered around the theater to find two missing employees. You probably have questions, and frankly, we don’t have all the answers. You just gotta go!

Autumn Goods: The Market is stocked with a variety of seasonal apple products, perfect for bringing a taste of fall home with you. Admission is always FREE, so gather your favorite people and head to The Farmer’s House for a weekend full of fall fun!

A New Italian Restaurant is Coming to the Plaza

Vertice Italian, a refined modern Italian concept, is coming soon to the Country Club Plaza.
Return of the Restaurants: Vertice will be the newest concept from Summit Hospitality Group, which operates other local restaurants like Third Street Social, Summit Grill, Pearl Tavern, and more. It will open at 616 Ward Parkway, which most recently housed Parkway Social Kitchen, which closed in 2020.
Taste of Italy: The menu at Vertice will be “refined yet approachable” featuring handmade pastas, woodfired pizzas, a vibrant cocktail lounge, and a curated wine list. Vertice is pronounced ver-tee-chay, which means “peak” in Italian.
Vertice will open some time in 2026. Stay tuned for details on dates, menus, and reservations!

✈️ Fly Happy: According to J.D. Power’s 2025 North American Airport Satisfaction Study, the Kansas City International Airport has the fourth-highest customer satisfaction rating for large airports.
❤️ Hustle Back: The Charlie Hustle retail store has returned to 419 W 47th St. on the Country Club Plaza, which was the retailer’s original pop-up location in September 2015.
📍 Local Partners: 1587 Prime opened with a bang last week, serving food in partnership with some of Kansas City’s best culinary purveyors. Partners include McLain’s Bakery, Messenger Coffee, Shatto Milk, J. Rieger & Co., and more.
😳 Scary Sips: Apparition has opened a haunted pop-up cocktail bar at Fountain City Winery in the West Bottoms. Guests must be 21+, and the experience lasts through Halloween (10/31).
🌳 Flag on the Play: Last week, the City of Overland Park revealed the brand new city flag. The improved flag features a red oak tree (OP’s officialy tree), chevron arrows, and colors of chartreuse and forest green.
