A Dragon Boat Festival is coming to Kansas City
KC Daily
The Inaugural Kansas City Dragon Boat Festival is coming to Shawnee Mission Park in September.
An Ancient Tradition - GWN and The KC Pink Warriors are bringing the ancient Chinese tradition of racing dragon boats to the Kansas City metro. The free-to-attend festival will feature teams of 20 paddling in unison to the beat of a drummer.
For Survivors - Although this will be the inaugural festival in Kansas City, the KC Pink Warriors have been racing dragon boats since 2020. The team consists of female cancer survivors who compete in dragon boat racing to inspire, restore, and empower others. They were the first full-time dragon boat team in Missouri and Kansas.
