Five Kansas City Bourbons to Try 🥃

Believe it or not, you don’t have to travel all the way to Kentucky to experience great whiskey. There are plenty of heavy hitters in the bourbon game right here in Kansas City, and here are five of our favorites distilled right here at home:

This double gold medal winner is distilled in one season at Kansas City’s original distillery, J. Rieger & Co. in the historic Electric Park District.

Lenexa’s Union Horse Distilling Co. has brought home hardware from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition for multiple spirits, and their Reserve Straight Bourbon Whiskey was scored a 92/100 by Wine Enthusiast.

Although technically a blend of bourbon and rye whiskeys, this Kansas City Whiskey is blended with 2.5% Oloroso sherry to give it a unique profile and smooth, fruity finish.

Named after the infamous political boss and Kansas Citian Tom Pendergast, Royal Gold is finished in 14-year-old ruby port casks and is perfect for special occasions.

Produced in Weston at Missouri’s oldest distillery, Holladay’s Soft Red Winter Wheat takes the traditional Holladay recipe and swaps wheat for rye, before being barreled in Missouri white oak barrels.
