Mildred’s South Plaza To Celebrate Grand Opening This Friday

Mildred’s is celebrating the grand opening of its third metro location this Friday, January 10th.

• Brunch on the Plaza: Mildred’s South Plaza will be located at 5060 Main St. in the former Mission Taco space. The family-owned cafe has been a staple in Kansas City dining since the mid-90s and will now operate three metro locations: South Plaza, Crossroads, and Downtown.

• Best in Breakfast: Mildred’s made-from-scratch menu features local favorites such as Brioche Cinnamon Rolls, steamed-egg Standard Breakfast Sandwich, and the Guac Chicken Club. The cafe has earned numerous accolades, including “Best Breakfast Sandwich” in Missouri by Food Network.

Mildred’s South Plaza will be open M-F from 7-5, and S-S from 8-3.

NAR Predicts Kansas City Will Be a Top 10 Housing Market in 2025

According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), Kansas City will be a top 10 housing market in the U.S. in 2025.

• House Hunters: The list named ten markets that were identified as “top performers” for 2025 based on factors such as available inventory at affordable price points, low mortgage rates, higher income growth for young adults, and net migration.

• Midwest Nice: The list was not ranked, but Kansas City was one of only three metro areas in the Midwest named on the list (the others were Indianapolis-Carmel-Anderson, Indiana, and Grand Rapids-Kentwood, Michigan). The NAR also predicts that mortgage rates will stabilize around 6% nationally, and home prices will continue to rise.

Kansas City Symphony to Perform Disney in Concert: The Sound of Magic

The Kansas City Symphony presents Disney in Concert: The Sound of Magic this weekend at The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

• Magical Music: The concert features Stuart Chafetz as the guest conductor and will bring a variety of Disney movie scores to the stage. Hit songs from movies like “Cinderella”, “Beauty and the Beast”, and “The Lion King” will be performed, with film footage projected on the big screen of Helzberg Hall.

• Three’s Company: There will be three performances of Disney in Concert: The Sound of Magic this weekend (1/10-1/12): Friday at 8 pm, Saturday at 8 pm, and Sunday at 2 pm. Ticket prices start at $50.

Hyer Boots Partners with American Royal to Offer 125th Anniversary Boot

Kansas City-based Hyer Boots has partnered with the American Royal to offer a boot honoring its 125th anniversary.

• Royal Footwear: The American Royal 125th Anniversary Boot was crafted to honor the organization's legacy and its commitment to food and agriculture. The limited edition boot features a cutter toe, a 13” shaft, and is available in both men’s and women’s designs.

• KC Legacy: Hyer Boots was born in Olathe in 1875 and pioneered the very first “cowboy boot”. The partnership with the American Royal, which celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2024, honors two Kansas City area institutions with agricultural and livestock roots.
