The Peanut

If The Peanut isn’t on a list of best wings in KC, it must be written by someone from St. Louis. Tabbed as Kansas City’s oldest bar and grill ( it opened as a speakeasy in 1933), The Peanut has been serving up its famous giant buffalo wings to guests for decades. Don’t be in a hurry as they require a minimum 20-minute cook time, but it’s absolutely worth it.

Al’s Bar and Grill

📍10911 NW 45 Hwy

Al Burns moved to Kansas City from Buffalo over 25 years ago and brought the wings with him. His Parkville staple is a no-frills, no-fuss bar and grill that has people coming back over and over for his famous wings. Best served with blue cheese, celery, and an ice-cold beer all while being illuminated by the neon beer signs on the wall. Hey, maybe he can make a Bills fan out of us!

Wings Cafe

With nearly 20 flavors of wet and dry rubs, there is something for every palate at Wings Cafe. In addition to wings, they offer tenders, sandwiches, fish, and more. Hosting an event? Order a platter and get something for everyone! They conveniently have locations in Westport and the Northland.

CM Chicken

Having a Korean fried chicken spot on a list of best wings may seem questionable, but if you’ve had their wings you know why they're included. We ordered the Red Hot Pepper whole chicken (including wings and tenders) and were shocked by the crispiness and flavor. Want to change it up even more? Order your chicken topped with sweet onion with some Ttokbokki on the side.

Helen’s JAD Bar and Grill

📍2002 Armour Rd.

The Northland’s favorite dive bar (JAD stands for Just Another Dive) is an unassuming powerhouse in the KC wings scene. If you’re not afraid of a little heat, order the Uber wings with a side of crispy fries and thank us later. There is just something about being served smoking-hot wings and fries from a basket lined with red and white checkered paper.

It’s only fitting that one of the biggest names in BBQ in Kansas City knows how to make some killer wings. Their “Best Wings on the Planet” are smoked to perfection and sauced with their own chipotle BBQ. Although listed as an appetizer, nobody is judging if you order two and call it your meal.
