Betty Rae’s is Coming to Prairie Village

Betty Rae’s

Local ice cream shop Betty Rae’s announced last week that it will open its fifth metro location in Prairie Village.

  • Betty in the Village: The new shop will be located at 5330 West 95th St. in Meadowbrook Village. Since being purchased by Matt Shatto (of Shatto Milk Co.) in May of 2023, Betty Rae’s has expanded to Olathe and has a shop coming soon in Merriam.

  • Sweet Emotion: With five locations alongside an ice cream truck that travels the metro, Betty Rae’s continues to be a local favorite for sweet treats. Mainstay flavors include Gooey Butter Cake, Cereal & Milk, and Creme Brûlée.

According to a release from Betty Rae’s, the shop in Meadowbrook Village plans to open in late July.

Development

Construction Begins on the New Barney Allis Plaza in Downtown KCMO

HOK

Construction has officially begun on the demolition and redevelopment of the Barney Allis Plaza and Parking Garage in downtown Kansas City.

  • Rubble to Riches: After closing in mid-April due to safety concerns and multiple code violations, The Barney Allis Plaza garage is undergoing a $120 million redevelopment. The new garage will feature a two-level, 583-space with a massive green space on the surface.

  • World-Class Destination: In addition to the updated garage, the surface will feature an event plaza for festivals, a sloped loan with terraces, a pavilion plaza to host food trucks and other events, and an oval lawn to host gatherings.

The project is scheduled to finish in the summer of 2026.
