Kansas Starts Its Push to Attract the Chiefs and Royals

Manica

Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Missouri anymore. Lawmakers in the state of Kansas have made a strong push to attract the Chiefs and Royals across state lines.

  • STAR of the Show: On Tuesday, the Kansas House and Senate passed the STAR (sales tax and revenue) bond legislation, with support from Governor Laura Kelly who has yet to sign. The passing of this bill means the state of Kansas could pay up to 70% of the cost of stadiums.

  • Not So Fast: This doesn’t mean the state of Missouri will roll over and hand over the teams. KCMO Mayor Quinton Lucas said that they will continue to work hard and continue negotiations with both teams to stay in MO.
