A Heavy Metal-Themed Coffee Shop Opens in Waldo

Apparition Coffee

Apparition Coffee, a heavy metal-themed coffee shop, has opened its doors in Waldo.

  • Rock On: Apparition Coffee can be found at 328 W. 85th St., inside the former Second Best Coffee space, which closed in late 2025. Apparition opened softly this week and remains open today (Wednesday), but will be closed on Thursday in order to prepare for a grand opening celebration on Friday, June 26th.

  • Black Coffee, Heavy Metal: The menu features a drip coffee, espresso, lattes, teas, matcha, and pastries, with subtle nods to heavy-metal music throughout the space and menu. Everyone seems to be raving about The Beetdown, which we still need to try.

Apparition Coffee will be open 7am-2pm, Monday through Saturday.

This KC Painting Company Turns Every Project Into a Mission

Mission Painting

When the Mission Painting crew shows up at your door, they're not just there to paint. Ten percent of every material purchase funds freedom for vulnerable women and children in Kansas City through the Paint-It-Forward program.

  • Paint with a Purpose: It started with a simple belief: a company that transforms homes should transform lives too. Every gallon of Sherwin-Williams paint on your walls, every roll of tape, every drop cloth — a portion goes directly to anti-trafficking efforts right here in KC.

  • Summer Special: This summer, Mission Painting is hosting a Paint-It-Forward community event to give a KC home a full exterior transformation at no cost. We'll share the full story soon.

In the meantime, if your home needs some love, you can be part of the mission! No deposit required. Three quality tiers with warranties up to 5 years.
