Boulevard Brewing Co.
Happy Wednesday, Kansas City! Boulevard Brewing Co. is expanding its offering of low and Non-Alcoholic beverages just in time for dry January.
Three’s A Crowd: The brewing company, which piloted its non-alcoholic IPA, the Flying Start, in 2021, will begin offering its Non-Alcoholic Wheat with Lemon and Quirk Non-Alcoholic Superfruit Seltzer in 2024.
Flying Out Of The Gate: Boulevard found plenty of initial success with the Flying Start, taking home a Gold in the Non-Alcoholic category at the Beverage Institute Ratings World Beer Championship in 2023.
Classics With A Twist: Adding a lemon flavor, lovers of the Boulevard Wheat will find a refreshing, Non-Alcoholic option. In addition, the Non-Alcoholic Quirk will add to the seltzer part of the business which produced 1/3 of sales.
Look for these new offerings available in 12-ounce cans in 2024. Boulevard is sold locally, as well as in 47 states.
Industry
Movie Theaters’ New Era

City of Merriam
Cinemark, the Dallas-based movie theater chain, is pivoting its business model and remodeling its Kansas City location to include laser tag, bowling, and more.
Less Seats, More Gaming: As a response to lowering demand since Covid in 2020, Cinemark off Johnson and I-35 is removing 9 theaters to make way for a new era for the company- Gamescape by Cinemark.
The Future Is Laser Tag: The Gamescape would include new additions to the space such as laser tag, bowling, an arcade, and a bar and restaurant. The new design was piloted in 2023 in El Paso, Texas.
Cinemark See, Cinemark Do: The new move seems to be an industry trend, as Liberty-based B&B Theatres also chose to forgo theater seating to make way for laser tag and bowling.
Cinemark is currently waiting for approval of the plan from the Merriam city officials as laser tag and an arcade are not allowed under its Planned Unit Development zoning.
