Development
New Renderings of 100-Year-Old Crossroads Building Conversion
Redeveloping historic buildings presents unique and difficult challenges. Zach Molzer of Molzer Development is leaning into those challenges head on.
Century Challenge: Molzer Development recently released new renderings of their upcoming project at 708 E. 18th St. in the East Crossroads. The project will convert the 105-year-old Holtman Furnace Company building into a 40,000-square-foot mixed-use development featuring loft residences, retail space, and a rooftop cocktail bar.
Magic Carpet: This new project announcement comes as Molzer Development is in the midst of converting The Aladdin, a 100-year-old building at 1215 Wyandotte St. in downtown KCMO. Once completed, it will feature 122 apartments, lounge area, two fitness centers, and a cocktail bar on the top floor.
Molzer Development is also changing how historic redevelopment is documented. Watch these historic conversions unfold by following along HERE.

Kansas City Public Library Acquires Kansas City CALL’s Photograph Archive
The Kansas City Public Library has acquired more than 70,000 images and related material from the Kansas City CALL’s entire photograph archive.
Historical Photos: The CALL, a Black weekly newspaper founded in 1919 and based in the 18th & Vine jazz district, documented civil rights, segregation, culture, sports, and local Black businesses across a century. The newly acquired collection includes physical clippings and ephemera complementing the Library’s existing digital archives.
Preserving a Legacy: Library director Abby Yellman praised the acquisition as “vital,” noting how it enriches resources for researching Black history. Once cataloged and digitized, the archive will be available on KCHistory.org and used for exhibitions and community programs
