Burnt Ends Of The North End
Jack Stack considers a Northland location, The House reopens for fall, and Westwood considers controversial commercial development.
Byrd’s Pecans started in 1964 as a pecan farm located south of Kansas City and in 2014, the granddaughter of the original owners opened Byrd’s Pecan Delights. Sourcing local products along with using pecans from their 600-acre farm, they serve breakfast all day, sandwiches, homemade ice cream, and (of course) pecan pies. Stop by on your next trip south, or order online today!

Jack Stack Barbecue
Happy Tuesday, Kansas City! Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue is considering expanding into Kansas City's Northland, with plans for an 11,043-square-foot restaurant in the Edgewood Farms development.
What Could Be: Recently, the City Plan Commission approved final development plans, but the expansion isn't confirmed yet, as the restaurant is evaluating several growth opportunities in the area.
A New Epicenter: The potential location would be part of a larger retail and apartment project by a Jones Development affiliate which would offer several new amenities just south of the Texas Roadhouse off I-29 and Barry Road.
7th Heaven: While the restaurant chain, which traces its roots all the way back to 1957, remains tight-lipped about the new location, it appears that Jack Stack is optimistic about the potential of their 7th location.
While no decision has been made yet about the location, expect to see news in the coming months. For now, you can visit Jack Stack at any of their 6 locations in the metro or order online here.

Patio Season: The bar, which closed at the beginning of 2023 for renovations, will reopen this Friday including the 50-person patio, perfect for a Saturday in the fall.
Facelift: The owner, Malisa Monyakula who also owns Lulu’s Thai Noodle, took the past several months to knock out a wall for expanded bar space, put in a fire pit, and add “funky” furniture and decor.
Full Menu?: In addition to the traditional beer menu, the House will now serve yard beers, frozen cocktails, and Lulu’s full menu of food and drink.
The House will reopen this Friday at 5 pm and will resume normal weekend-only hours of operation on Fridays & Saturdays 5-11 pm, and Sundays from 2 pm to 9 pm.

No Parking

KC Daily
The City of Westwood in Johnson County is considering a controversial plan to re-zone and redevelop the beloved public park along Rainbow Boulevard into an office park.
Gassing Up: Westwood locals, including Mike Coffman, who has lived near the park for decades, strongly oppose the plan, expressing concerns about increased traffic, safety, and the loss of park amenities.
Fresh Eats: Those against the redevelopment are collecting signatures to voice their opposition to the plans proposed by metro builder Karbank, which includes office buildings and parking space for 300 cars.
Change Can Be Hard: Despite the opposition, the development plans also include the creation of a new, modern park in the vicinity that would significantly increase park space for residents.
The public had the opportunity to voice their concerns at a city council planning committee meeting yesterday. To read more about the proposed plan, check out the City of Westwood website here.
