KC Daily
Happy Wednesday, Kansas City! The Plaza’s newest hotel, Cascade Hotel Kansas City, is opening today.
Luxury On The Plaza: The Cascade Hotel is part of a dual renovation with its sister hotel next door, the Aloft Hotel on the plaza. The Cascade is a boutique, art-forward hotel that focuses on bringing luxury to its guests.
Treat Yo Self: Speaking of luxury, the Cascade Hotel will soon also be the only hotel on the Plaza that offers a full spa experience. The hotel will have 8 treatment rooms with 2 infrared saunas and will offer a full host of massages and facials.
New Restaurant Alert: Beyond the luxury of the massages, the Hotel is also home to the Chef-driven concept from Strang Hall called Strang Chef Collective. The restaurant can be accessed through the second floor of the hotel with a patio overlooking the Plaza.
The Cascade Hotel officially opens today with Strang Chef Collective opening earlier this week. For those planning a staycation, the Cascade has rooms starting around $230 with suites starting around $360.

EV or Bust

Shane Keyser
Thanks to the recent United Auto Workers agreement with GM, Kansas City will be the newest city to produce Electric Vehicles(EVs).
Stabilizing Our Economy: In 2022, the future of the FM Fairfax plant was a little unclear. Now, thanks to the recent negotiations caused by the UAW strike, GM has committed $500 Million to the continued success of the facility and its employees in Kansas City.
Electric Is The Future: Beyond raising the salary of its employees, part of the negotiation lines out that GM will use the plants to build parts of its EV line. The plant employees were previously rattled when reports came out that GM may shutter the Malibu, one of the cars produced there.
Pay Day: Now, UAW members can rest assured as they return to work knowing that not only is the future of the Fairfax plant secured, but thanks to wage increases over the next 5 years their salaries could jump by nearly 25%.
So far, General Motors has yet to announce what EV will be produced in Kansas City. The Chevy Malibu’s next generation is on the table while the Cadillac XT-4, the plant’s other product, will no longer be produced by 2030.
