Changing The Face of KC

Lux Living

Don’t look now, but the St Louis-based development company, Lux Living, is changing the face of Kansas City.

  • Changing Skylines: To start, Lux Living is changing the skyline of downtown by adding the Wyandotte Project, a 30-story apartment on 14th and Wyandotte that will feature 300 apartments and 200 hotel rooms.

  • Alice’s Actual Wonderland: Wonderland, an apartment complex the developer is adding in the Crossroads will feature unheard-of amenities such as an indoor basketball court, a full-size gym with all the bells and whistles, a resort-style pool, and a golf lounge.

  • The Katz Meow: To add to the ridiculous overall investment in the city, Lux is adding the Katz apartments on Main St. where the former Katz drug store stood. This property will offer a bowling alley, a sit-down restaurant, and a putting green.

You can keep tabs on all of the Lux living projects as they reach completion over the next 1-3 years. With Wyandotte slated for completion by 2026, the Katz and Wonderland should be completed within the next 2 years.

Turning A Local Park Into A Place Of Peace

The Olsson Studio

The push to turn a portion of the Brush Creek area into a multi-million dollar family entertainment district is gaining steam with a new proposal.

  • Turning Around: The Oak Park portion of Brush Creek is currently an area that sees high amounts of crime. With the proposal of a $39M youth entertainment district, city officials hope to change the area for KC’s youth.

  • Give The Kids Activities: The project would include several additions alongside the existing basketball court including a bowling alley, pool, zip line, skate park, and amphitheater.

  • Now About The Money: The land is currently owned by KC Parks and Rec. The next step on the project now that the proposal has been made is to find the $25M it could take to start construction.

Following KC Parks and Rec’s decision to move the proposal forward, city officials will look to work closely with the city on its vision of creating a safe place to keep kids out of trouble.

Kansas City was just selected by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration as a tech hub leading in innovation.

As part of being selected in the top 31, KC can also compete to be selected during phase 2 as a top 10 tech hub, which would bring an additional $500M in funding to the area.
