Chicken Salad Chick Officially Opens Tomorrow in Overland Park

Where my chicks at? Chicken Salad Chick officially opens in Overland Park tomorrow (7/1)!

• JOCO Chicks: Chicken Salad Chick will open its second Kansas City area franchise at 9222 Metcalf Ave., joining Lee’s Summit, which opened in December at 1020 NW Pryor Road. Chicken Salad Chick was launched in Auburn, AL in 2008, and now boasts 300+ locations nationwide.

Local College Hoops Legends Return to KC for TBT Kansas City Regional

The Basketball Tournament (TBT)'s Winner-Take-All $1MILLION Tournament has a regional at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City from July 19-23!

• Local Legends: TBT is an awesome March Madness-style event, fun for basketball fans and for the entire family! The region features the Kansas Alumni (JHX Hoops) and the Kansas State Alumni (Purple Reign) as their round one matchups are officially set. Come see local college basketball legends David McCormack, Jacob Pullen and more!

• July Madness: The hardwood action starts on Saturday, July 19th with Purple Reign (KState) vs. The Shine at 1pm, followed by JHX Hoops (Kansas) vs. OffDaHook at 3pm. One ticket gets you into both games, and if both teams win, they’ll face off on Monday, July 21st at 8pm!

Five Ways to Learn and Play Mahjong in Kansas City

Mahjong is having a moment in the United States. According to Eventbrite, the Chinese tile-based tabletop game saw a 179% increase in Mahjong events between 2023-2024. Here are five ways to learn and play in Kansas City:

• Ok Let’s Mahjong - Friends Rachel T. and Lindy G. offer private lessons, events, and social play opportunities in fun and relaxed settings.

• Mahjong KC - Launched in 2024, Kristin M. is a trained instructor and ambassador for The Mahjong Line offering lessons, events, and partnerships.

• Mod Mahj Kansas City: Kansas City moms Hannah and Molly teach American-style mahjong with a welcoming approach.

• Kansas City Riichi Mahjong Group: A public meetup for new and seasoned players that hosts play events at the Lenexa Public Market.

• Kansas City Mahjong: Run by Mahjong Line ambassador Lauren S., Kansas City Mahjong offers beginner lessons, private lessons, and mini camps for young players.
