Bienvenidos Taco Naco

Zach Bauman
Taco Naco, the beloved Overland Park taqueria and market, is saying “hola” to a new location in Westport where Porta Fonda used to stand on the corner of Pennsylvania and Archibald.
Rapid Growth: Since starting in 2019, owners Brian Goldman Ruiz and Fernanda Reyes, have grown their taco pop-up into a restaurant in 2021 and a second location this summer.
A Taste of Home: All recipes come from Reyes who grew up learning how to run a Mexican restaurant with her family and eventually attending culinary school in Monterrey, Mexico.
Sound Familiar?: It probably should. Taco Naco has been making a name for itself in the KC food scene, even being named the #22 best restaurant in KC according to Kansas City Magazine’s top 40.
.
With development underway, you should expect to see the new location in Westport open by mid to late summer. Don’t worry, the OP location isn’t going anywhere.

Local Election Results Are In

KC Daily
The votes have been counted and results are in from Tuesday’s local elections to determine Mayor and City Council Members for the 1st-6th districts.
Mayor: In a landslide, Mayor Quinton Lucas will maintain his position, winning his election by an 81%-19% margin.
City Council: The district races were a bit closer for the at-large bids. The winners for each district are Kevin O'Neal(1st), Lindsay French(2nd), Melissa Patterson Hazley(3rd), Crispin Rea(4th), Darrell Curtis(5th), and Andrea Bough(6th).
Progress: Voters seem to be happy with the current regime as 6 out of 7 incumbents were re-elected including Mayor Lucas. Issues such as delivering a World Cup host berth, expanded transportation options, and growing development across the metro struck a chord with KCMO voters.
If you missed this election, you can follow the KC Election Board calendar here to stay in the know going forward.
