Celebrate Fountain Day in the City of Fountains!
Kansas City's fountain season officially kicks off today as KC Parks and Recreation hosts the annual Fountain Day celebration at the Rose Garden Fountain in Loose Park.
Feel Me Flow: Fountain Day marks the moment each spring when fountains across the city are switched back on, flowing through mid-October. This year's ceremony will take place in the award-winning rose garden at Loose Park, with the Mayor and City Council members expected to participate in the ceremonial activation.
Wet Connection: With the Royals' new Forever Fountains City Connect uniforms, Fountain Day feels extra fitting this year as KC leans into its iconic identity. With 200+ fountains spread throughout the metro, Kansas City trails only Rome, Italy on fountain count.
Join the celebration today at 2pm at the Rose Garden Fountain in Loose Park.

Roy Blunt Luminary Park Will Feature a Fully Accessible All-Abilities Playground
Variety KC has announced that the first park in its Ten Parks Project will be built at the upcoming Roy Blunt Luminary Park in downtown KC.
All Can Play: Variety KC worked with designers, architects, engineers, and city leaders to redesign The Play Tower with a fully accessible ramp winding to the top and interactive elements integrated at every level. Every zone, pathway, and surface has been evaluated and enhanced through an all-abilities lens.
A $30 Million Mission: The Ten Parks Project is anchored by a $30 million commitment from Peter and Veronica Mallouk and the Mallouk Family Foundation, representing about 80% of the total investment. The goal: when the 10th park opens, no family in Greater Kansas City will be more than 10 miles from a fully inclusive, fully accessible park or playground.
Construction on the Roy Blunt Luminary Park is expected to begin after the World Cup, with an anticipated completion of 2029.
