Two Final Design Options for the South Loop Project
Following last week’s public open house, the city of Kansas City is seeking the public’s feedback on two final design options for the South Loop Project.
East vs. West: Both designs feature a structural deck over I-670 on the south side of downtown, but residents can vote on an “Eastern Superblock”, which would close the current Walnut Street bridge, or a “Western Superblock, which would close the current Baltimore Avenue bridge. View both renderings (Appendix A).
Moving Forward: Residents are able to submit their preference until February 23rd. The federal environmental review is set to wrap up by the end of March, final design stages are expected by April, and construction could begin as early as August.

A New Bakery is Coming to the Crossroads
A new bakery from a local nurse called Morning Rounds Bakery will open soon in the Crossroads.
Making the Rounds: Andrea Rainey will open Morning Rounds at 217 W. 19th Terrace in mid-May. Rainey, a 17-year nurse, is combining her passion for her work with her passion for baking with her aptly named bakery.
Warming Up: The bakery will open early each day to honor the early risers in healthcare at nearby hospitals. Rainey expects to be open each morning by 5:30 am and will serve croissants, cakes, cookies, and pies alongside coffee and cold brew. The space will have 12-14 seats and eventually feature a full espresso bar.
