Massive Tourist Attraction Planned for KCK

The developers behind Mattel Adventure Park have released plans for a massive tourist attraction in Kansas City, Kansas.

• Destination KCK: Epic Resorts and EMAP KC, LLC released renderings of a 180-acre redevelopment at State St. and 118th St. entitled ‘Destination KCK’. The currently vacant land lies between the Kansas Speedway and Azura Amphitheater.

• The Fun Never Ends: In addition to Mattel Adventure Park, ‘Destination KCK’ would offer a Rainforest Attraction, Christmas Village, Hotel and Conference Center, and more surrounding a 12-acre lake.

The Bonner Springs City Council approved a STAR Bond project on Monday night that could help clear the way for the development.

Sweet Kiss Brigadeiro Opens in Lee’s Summit

A Brazilian sweets shop has closed its doors on the Country Club Plaza, but has since opened a new location in Lee’s Summit.

• Sweet Relocation: Sweet Kiss Brigadeiro has closed its location at 213 W. 47th St. in KCMO, which they had occupied since 2022. They are now open inside Made in KC Marketplace at 860-U, 860 NW Blue Pkwy in Lee’s Summit.

• Sweet Sippin’: The shop will still sell Brigadeiros (a Brazilian truffle), but will have a heavy focus on drinks. They will serve coffee, wine, beer, cocktails, and Caipirinha.

Sweet Kiss Brigadeiro is open 8 AM - 9 PM Monday-Saturday and 8 AM - 6 PM on Sundays.

A New Campaign Promotes Physical Movement

A campaign called Move Together KC aims to promote physical movement for every body in Kansas City.

• Let’s Move!: The campaign is a partnership between the Kansas City Healthy Lifestyles Collaborative and Children’s Mercy. The partnership will work with community partners to develop programs to get kids active.

• Make a Plan: The Kansas City Physical Activity Plan is led by a wide variety of community groups collectively called the Core Work Group. The group is working together to encourage community members to live healthy, vibrant lifestyles.
