A Massive Food and Retail Destination Headed for Northeast Kansas City

Nomad Develops

Northeast Kansas City will receive a massive new food & retail destination called the Historic Northeast Public Market and District.

  • Food for the Community: The project will develop a 28,000-square-foot space into a community destination featuring a 13,000-square-foot market with space for 18 independent food and retail vendors, incubator kitchens, public gathering spaces, and more.

  • Better Together: The market will sit at the southeast corner of the intersection of Independence Avenue and Hardesty Avenue. In addition to the Public Market, the project will include 395 mixed-income apartments, daycare and after-school programs, co-working offices, a community gym, and more. The Public Market is now accepting applications for vendors.

WeekEnder Returns to Crown Center Square

Spend your summer nights under the stars during WeekEnder on Crown Center Square!

  • Friday Night Fun: Every Friday from July 11 to August 1, come out for live music, buy dinner and drinks from local food trucks, then settle in with your blanket and lawn chairs for an outdoor movie in the heart of downtown.

  • Twist & Sing: The first edition of WeekEnder features live music from the Damien Gunn Band followed by a showing of Twisters. The festivities begin at 6pm, with the movie starting at approximately 9pm. Admission is FREE.

A New Mexican Restaurant to Open in Former Brady & Fox Space in East Brookside

Brady and Fox

A new Mexican restaurant called Muy Caliente Grill & Cantina is coming soon to East Brookside.

  • Irish Goodbye: Muy Caliente will open at 751 E. 63rd St. Suite 110 in the former Brady & Fox space, which closed in August 2024 after chef and owner Shaun Brady was tragically killed. The restaurant spaced has been downsized, but Muy Caliente will feature two bar areas in addition to the main dining room.

  • Brookside Burritos: The restaurant will be opened by two father-daughter duos: Fredy Rivera & Saray Pilar Nonato along with Noel Ramos & Gepsiva Ramos. The menu will feature Quesabirrias, street tacos, Molcajetazo, and their specialty: the Caliente Burger.
