Dinner And Drinks?
The cocktail kings of KC set to open a new restaurant, The Well in Waldo says goodbye for now, and Lenexa City Center sees more development.
Byrd’s Pecans started in 1964 as a pecan farm located south of Kansas City and in 2014, the granddaughter of the original owners opened Byrd’s Pecan Delights. Sourcing local products along with using pecans from their 600-acre farm, they serve breakfast all day, sandwiches, homemade ice cream, and (of course) pecan pies. Stop by on your next trip south, or order online today!

The Well’s Gone Dry

The Well
The iconic rooftop bar, The Well, in Kansas City's Waldo neighborhood, is temporarily closing its doors.
So Long, Friend: The Well, known for its iconic rooftop patio, has been a fixture in the Waldo community for 15 years. However, when developers approached the owners about partnering to renovate the block, they jumped at the opportunity.
New Block, Who Dis: The bar's closure, which happened Saturday night, is part of a broader plan to renovate the block, introducing nearly $90M in new apartments, parking facilities, and commercial spaces that aim to invigorate the area with much-needed growth.
Going Out In Style: The weekend, the Well hosted its “End of the Well as we know it” party where it had live music to celebrate the temporary closing of its award-winning patio and restaurant.
The 280-apartment project will begin construction soon with completion and a Well re-opening in 2025. For the time being, you can visit the Well’s sister establishments at Lew’s Grill & Bar in Waldo and Charlie Hooper’s Bar and Grille in Brookside.

A St. Louis-based developer, Midas Lenexa CC LLC, is set to transform Lenexa City Center with new hotels, retail, and parking.
Occupancy Goes ⬆️: The mixed-use building will house an AC Hotel by Marriott and a Residence Inn by Marriott, along with 11,000 square feet of retail and a 358-space garage.
Tax Szn: The Lenexa City Council approved substantial tax incentives for this project, including a tax increment financing plan of up to $26.2 million and $80.5 million in industrial revenue bonds.
Special Council: A newly established community improvement district (CID) will collect additional sales tax from hotel guests and retail shoppers, with the developer receiving 100% of CID revenue to cover eligible construction costs.
The project is projected to be completed by 2026. For now, you can read more about the development in KCBJ’s article here.
