KC Opens The Disney Vault

Happy Thursday, Kansas City! Union Station announced earlier this week that it will be the home of Disney100: The Exhibition, an exhibition celebrating 100 years of Disney.

• Centenarians: When word went out 3 years ago that Disney was looking for a home to celebrate its 100-year anniversary, Kansas City made perfect sense, given that the company found its footing here.

• From Every Film: The Exhibit, which will open May 24, 2024, will feature 10 themed galleries showcasing Disney innovation from Snow White to Encanto.

• Deep In The Vault: Each exhibit will be filled with films, costumes, and artifacts from deep within the Disney Archives that tell the story of the Walt Disney Company like never before, something that is expected to draw visitors from across the country.

Tickets for the exhibit have already gone on sale with three options- a first access pass for the grand opening, a VIP pass, and general admission.

The Kansas City Current has announced their newest local partner serving food in the concourse of CPKC Stadium, Billie’s Grocery.

• Mid-town Luv: The Current, continuing with the theme of announcing one new vendor a week, has announced that Mid-town favorite and gluten-free haven, Billie’s Grocery will offer food near section 128.

• Simple, Healthy Foods: Billie’s Grocery opened its doors in 2020. Founded by Nutritional Therapist Practitioner, Robin Krause, Billie’s serves nutrient-dense foods to the community's ever-growing health food scene.

• Menu Updates: Billie’s has yet to announce which foods they will be serving at CPKC Stadium, but they’re known for a robust breakfast and lunch menu with items like the Carnitas Burrito and Misa Lime Coconut Shrimp bowl.

The Current will announce their next vendor after Billie’s Grocery and Joe’s KC next week.

The Plaza’s Getting Lit

It’s November again which means that details for this year’s Plaza Lights have been announced.

• 94 Years Young: The Kansas City Plaza Lights 2024 is a tradition that has been going on for 94 years where Kansas Citians can gather on Thanksgiving night to see the Plaza Christmas lights turn on.

• Lights And A Show: This year’s lighting ceremony will take place around 7 pm with live music and other events starting at 5 pm.

• Looking For The Best View?: Generally, you can rely on the Hotels around the Plaza to have the best view of the Lighting Ceremony from above. The Raphael and the Intercontinental will offer spectacular views from across Brush Creek.

The Plaza Lights will stay on from November 23rd to January 14th. They stayed on this past year into mid-February to celebrate the Plaza’s Centennial Celebration.
