Toys for Tots Donations Open at Overland Park Convention Center
With the holiday season right around the corner, Toys for Tots has opened donations at the Overland Park Convention Center.
Spreading Joy: The OPCC is the largest donation center in the area and serves as the central hub for the local Toys for Tots organization. Last year the drive collected over 26,000 toys and served 48,000 children in the Kansas City area.
Green Around Town: The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program has been serving children up to 17 years old across the country since 1991. The program’s mission is “to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas.”
Toy drop-off is open from November 7th through December 12th at 6000 College Blvd.
Education
KCU and Rockhurst Team Up to Offer Expedited Medical Degrees
Two Kansas City education institutions have teamed up to offer an expedited medical degree program.
Team Up for Health: Rockhurst University, a private four-year undergraduate university, and Kansas City University, a college of Osteopathic medicine, are now offering a fast-track degree program to allow students to enter the healthcare workforce sooner.
Study Hard: The Rockhurst University-Kansas City University Early Acceptance Program will allow students to complete a seven-year program through the two institutions rather than the traditional four years of undergrad followed by four years of medical school. As many as 40 students will be accepted annually.
The program will begin accepting students in the Fall of 2025.
