Blackhole Bakery is expanding to the West Plaza

Blackhole Bakery is expanding beyond Troost Avenue with a second location in KCMO’s West Plaza neighborhood.

• Down the Black Hole: Owner Jason Provo plans to open the new bakery at 1702 W. 45th St., designing the space from the ground up. After five successful years on Troost, this expansion reflects the bakery’s growing popularity and demand.

• Neighborhood Spot: The West Plaza spot will be “bodega-style”, offering baked goods, coffee, and other grab-and-go items like salads and sandwiches. The new space will also offer seating for diners, which isn’t currently available at the Troost location.

Celebrate Mardi Gras at Mardi Pardi at KC Live!

Celebrate Mardi Gras this weekend at Mardi Pardi at Kansas City Live! in the Power and Light District on Saturday, March 1st.

• Let’s Pardi: Kansas City may not celebrate Mardi Gras as hard as cross-state St. Louis, but there is still plenty of fun to be had at Mardi Pardi. Enjoy the spirit of New Orleans with the FREE celebration from 4-8 pm.

• Fat Tuesday on Saturday: Festivities include live music and entertainment, a Mardi Gras Krewes Contest (groups of 3+ dressed in theme), trivia, a King Cake Eating contest, and Mardi Gras-themed games. New this year is a Parade of the Paws, a parade of pets riding on decorated “floats” (wagons, baskets, etc.).

Chingu Collaborating with Lisa Nguyen for Instant Ramen Pop-Up

Korean Bar & Restaurant Chingu is collaborating with local food influencer Lisa Nguyen for a one-day-only pop-up dinner.

• We’re Noodlin’: The Instant Ramen Pop-Up will take place on Sunday, March 2nd, at 4:30 pm at Chingu in Westport. Nguyen has built a following of 340,000+ on Instagram with her unique and fun spins on Instant Ramen, and now you can try her creations yourself!

• Eat Fast: The menu will feature three small bites (popcorn chicken, Cucumber, and Spring Rolls) and three variations of noodles: spicy, dry, and vegan. The dinner will be fast-paced, with each reservation allowing for a 45-minute dining experience. It is Instant Ramen, after all…
