KC Current Release Renderings for Levee Park in the Berkley Riverfront

The Kansas City Current have unveiled plans for Levee Park, a transformative public space along the Missouri Riverfront.

• Riverfront Renaissance: Spanning over an acre, Levee Park aims to revitalize underutilized riverfront land into a vibrant community hub featuring trails, children's play areas, performance spaces, and scenic overlooks that bring residents closer to the Missouri River. The design emphasizes native landscaping and curated walkways to enhance the natural beauty of the area.

• Part of the Plan: This initiative is part of the Current's broader investment in the Berkley Riverfront, following the opening of CPKC Stadium and plans for a mixed-use district. By reclaiming and beautifying neglected spaces, the project seeks to reconnect Kansas City with their riverfront heritage.

Homestead Kitchen + Bakery to Open in Lenexa Public Market Next Month

Baldwin City-based Homestead Kitchen + Bakery will open a new location inside the Lenexa Public Market next month

• New Home(stead): Homestead will take over the former space of Cosmo Burger, which left to open a standalone spot in the Crossroads. Kelly and Lori Gardner opened the first location in Baldwin City in 2016 quickly becoming a local favorite. The Lenexa Public Market is located at 8750 Penrose Ln in Lenexa.

• Eat All Week: The new spot will operate seven days a week, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu will feature fresh-baked pastries, biscuits & gravy, sandwiches, wraps, coffee, and much more. They will also offer some dairy-free and gluten-free items.

Homestead Kitchen + Bakery expects to open in early July. Follow along for updates HERE.

MLB Home Run Derby X Coming to Kauffman Stadium this September

The MLB Home Run Derby X will take over Kauffman Stadium on Saturday, September 13th.

• Royal Dingers: The Home Run Derby X series was launched in 2022 as a global, fast-paced baseball event where four teams compete in home run-hitting contests, featuring former pros, rookies, and celebrity players. The event in Kansas City is the final regular season stop before Finals Weekend in Salt Lake City on September 19-20.

• 10 Years Already?: The event at the K will celebrate the ten year anniversary of the Royals winning the 2015 World Series. Several legends from that team will compete in the Home Run Derby X, including Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Lorenzo Cain, Alex Gordon and Ben Zobrist.

Faculty Tables & Patio Now Open in Brookside

Faculty Tables and Patio is now open in Brookside, offering a neighborhood bistro dining.

• Eatin’ Good in the Hood: Faculty Tables and Patio opened its doors in April, replacing the former Flying Horse Taproom (which closed last October) at 600 E. 63rd St. #100. Owner James Landis has brought 25 years of various restaurant experience to Faculty Tables and Patio.

• Set the Table: The seasonal menu offers American bistro fare, including Chile Crunch Spare Ribs, Steak Frites, Slow Braised Pork Roast, Butter Burger, and more. It also offers a “Faculty Hour” Tuesday through Friday from 3-6pm, brunch, and an extensive wine list.
