Opening
Hemma Hemma Dinette Opens Today in Downtown KC
Downtown foodies, rejoice! Hemma Hemma Dinette is officially open today inside the Lightwell Building.
Hemma Away from Hemma: Hemma Hemma Dinette is the sister concept to Hemma Hemma, which opened in 2023 in Waldo. The menu at the retro Swedish-designed dinette will include favorites from the OG location, but also introduce new items like an In-N-Out-inspired smash burger, a Miso Caesar salad, a Royal Rueben sandwich, and more.
Dine All Day: For now, the restaurant will be open from 8am-4pm Monday through Friday, with weekend hours and an outdoor patio coming in May. It will be walk-in only (no reservations) and counter service. Breakfast is served 8-11am, lunch from 11am/4pm, with coffee, tea, and smoothies offered as well.
Hemma Hemma Dinette is open in suite #101 on the first floor of the Lightwell Building at 1100 Main St.

Celebrate 2 Years of Vita’s Place, and 117 Years of Grandma Vita
Vita’s Place, the neighborhood-favorite wine bar in the Crestwood Shops is celebrating its second anniversary with a special food & wine event on Wednesday, March 11th.
Happy Birthday: Although the two-year anniversary was technically January 10th, Vita’s Place is celebrating on what would have been owner Ryan Sciara’s Grandma Vita’s 117th birthday. There will be two seatings for the event, 5pm and 7:30pm.
Grandma’s Favorites: The team will be serving a five-course Sicilian-American dinner paired with house wines and a traditional Sicilian cocktail. Cost for the dinner is $117 per person plus tax & gratuity. Can’t make it next Wednesday? Vita’s Place is open Tues-Thurs 4-10pm, and Fri-Sat 4-11pm.

Poll 📊
Last March, we held our first-ever Kansas City BBQ Bracket Challenge, where our readers voted in a March Madness-style bracket to determine their favorite BBQ restaurants in the metro.
After recording over 2,000 votes last year, we’re thinking about bringing it back bigger and better in 2026. 👀
Are you interested in a 2026 BBQ Bracket Challenge?
P.S. Q39 came out on top in 2025. Could they defend their crown?
