Renderings Released of a Royals Ballpark in Washington Square Park
A team of local developers released a vision of what a Royals ballpark could look like in Washington Square Park in the Crossroads district.
This is the One: The team consisted of 3D Developments, BNIM Architects, Cushman & Wakefield, Withers Brant, and Highline Partners. The findings were extremely favorable for the site, highlighted by the proximity to large-scale attractions (Union Station, Crown Center, Liberty Memorial) and ZERO business displacements.
Come Fly With Me: Not only would the ballpark improve upon the already-thriving area, but it would also provide incredible views of Kansas City. Left and center fields would offer expansive views of the skyline and a perfect view of the iconic Western Auto sign.
The Royals’ current lease at the Truman Sports Complex expires in 2031. Take a look at this flyover rendering of the Washington Square Park site.

A New Taco Spot is Now Open on State Line Road
Tako Tako is now serving up authentic Sonoran cuisine at 8025 State Line Road.
Tacos at Tako: Owners Richard Torres Jr., Kay Almanza, and Michael Kimble opened Tako Tako in the former T. Loft space just last week. They’ve partnered with James Beard-winning Yoli Tortilleria as a vendor, which supplies their Sonoran-style tortillas.
Sonoran Style: The menu is simple: street TAKo’s, quesadillas, tostadas, and burritos. On special occasions, they will serve Sonoran-style hot dogs, which are often bacon-wrapped and topped with beans, salsa, onions, and sauces.
Tako Tako is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 am - 9 pm.
