⛲️ Fall Flea Finds

Crossroads Hunting: Inspired by the Brooklyn Flea, Crossroads Flea features 40+ vendors spanning vintage clothing, makers and artists, antiques, and local produce, alongside Mildred's coffee, breakfast, and brunch bar. It happens just outside Mildred’s at 19th and Wyandotte.

Family Flea: The free and family-friendly outdoor event welcomes the fall season and (hopefully) the cooler weather. Mark your calendars for these upcoming dates: September 13, October 11, and November 8.

Lagers and Lights: Brew at the Zoo is a 21+ night of unlimited samples from 30+ local breweries and wineries, live music, and food trucks. This year, every ticket also includes admission to GloWild: Hidden Treasure, a mile-long path through the zoo illuminated by immersive lighted sculptures.

Doggone Good Time: This year's event highlights the African painted dog, one of Africa's most endangered predators, with a portion of proceeds supporting the Zoo's Conservation Fund. VIP experiences are also available this year, granting access to the Sobela Ocean Aquarium from 5 to 7pm, a German-themed dinner, beer-based specialty cocktails, animal ambassador encounters, early entry to beer tents, and more!

Connecting the City: The bridge will connect residents north of Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard directly to MLK Park for the first time. Mayor Quinton Lucas, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II, Parks Board members, and other city officials will be at the ceremony.

Walk in the Park: The project is funded by local taxpayers and $2.8 million in Community Project Funding secured by Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II. MLK Park is home to 15 and the Mahomies Park, which opened with the help of Patrick Mahomes and his foundation in 2021.

🌭 Home Bun: A moment from the Royals’ 4-3 loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday went viral, and it happened off the field. Fans assembled an inflatable bun and a hot dog, which was met with a roar of cheers!

🏟️ Climb to Remember: For the fourth year, the Royals will host a 9/11 memorial stair climb today at Kauffman Stadium. Local first responders and representatives from veterans organizations will climb 2,200 stairs, equivalent to the WTC’s 110 stories.

🛒 Hi, Hy-Vee: Hy-Vee has filed an application to build a new grocery store near 83rd St. and K-7 in Lenexa. The current site is undeveloped, but plans call for eight buildings.
