Where Are Transplants to KC Moving From?

U-Haul Kansas City

U-Haul has released it’s 2025 Midyear Migration Trends report, which highlights the origins of one-way U-Haul customers arriving in the largest 35 U.S. metros.

  • See You in KC: According to the report, the top origin state for arriving U-Haul customers (excluding Missouri & Kansas) is Texas. The top origin metro area for arriving U-Haul customers outside of Missouri & Kansas is Omaha, NE. And the top origin metro area for arriving U-Haul customers within Missouri & Kansas was St. Louis, MO.

  • Metro Boomin’: The report comes as the Kansas City metro is seeing significant growth - specifically in the suburbs. Nearly all metro cities recorded growth between 2020 and 2024, with Parkville (+24.88%), Spring Hill (+26.43%), and Parkville (+26.09%) leading the way. KCMO’s population increased 1.56%, adding 8,000 residents in the four-year span.

  • 🎠 Homecoming Pop-Up: American musician and Missouri-native Chappell Roan announced two pop-up concerts at the National WWI Museum and Memorial on October 3-4. KC joins New York City and Los Angeles as the only cities where she’ll perform these pop-ups.
