Happy Friday! We’ve got your plans to eat, drink, and play your way through Kansas City this weekend. Here they are:

• 🏡 HGKC: The KC Remodel + Garden Show takes over the American Royal Center all weekend long with vendors, special guests, and plenty of inspiration for your home!*

• 🍽️ Feast Week: KC Restaurant Week officially kicks off today! From January 10-19th, over 230 local restaurants will participate in Kansas City’s premier dining event. Where are you eating?

• 🛞 Welcome to the Jam: Grab your earplugs and head to the T-Mobile Center for Monster Jam! Don’t miss the high-flying action of monster trucks and world champion drivers on Saturday at 1 pm and 7 pm and on Sunday at 1 pm.

• 🎣 Gone Fishin’: The KC Boat and Fishing Show is happening inside Bartle Hall at the Kansas City Convention Center all weekend long. The event showcases a variety of watercraft, fishing equipment, outdoor lifestyle zones, seminars, entertainment, and more.

• 💃 Chi-Town: The Broadway in Kansas City series presents CHICAGO at the Kauffman Center through Sunday. Tickets are available for the show tonight at 7:30 and for two shows on Saturday and Sunday.

• 💡 Let’s Glow: Take a stroll through Lenexa’s Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park at Sar-Ko Aglow from 6-11 pm now through January 20th.

• ⛷️ Ski Ya Later: Snow Creek is now open for the season! Grab your ski boots and head to Weston for skiing, riding, tubing, and more winter fun at the area’s only spot to ski.

• 🎻 Sound of Magic: Take in the sounds of Disney classics with The Sound of Magic performed by the Kansas City Symphony. There are three shows scheduled at Bartle Hall throughout the weekend.

• ⚽️ Kick It With The Comets: The cold weather outside means it's a perfect time for indoor soccer! The Kansas City Comets take on the Empire Strykers at Cable Dahmer Arena tonight at 7:05.

• 🍺 Mac & Cheese & Beer: Casual Animal Brewery is hosting the Cerebrus Pop-Up Cafe on Saturday from 12-4 featuring a Mac & Cheese Bar.

Olathe Approves Incentives for Two Downtown Restaurants

The Olathe City Council approved two incentive requests earlier this week for two new restaurants coming to the area.

• Pizza 51: The local pizza shop will open a second metro location at 200 S. Kansas Ave. The first location is found at 5060 Oak St. in KCMO.

• Third Street Social: The Lee’s Summit-based eatery will open its fourth metro location (Lee’s Summit, South Plaza, Northland) at 139 S. Kansas Ave.

Both restaurants are expected to open in 2025, along with a new Char Bar at 200 W. Santa Fe St.

Zillow Names Kansas City Among Hottest Markets in 2025

If you feel like the housing market in Kansas City is still red-hot, it’s because it is. Zillow has named Kansas City among the top ten hottest housing markets in 2025.

• Big Week: Earlier this week, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) named Kansas City among its top ten housing hot spots for 2025, and now Zillow agrees. Kansas City was ranked as the eighth-hottest market in the U.S. for 2025 according to Zillow’s market heat index.

• Hot Homes: The ranking looked at the 50 largest metro areas in the country and considered factors such as jobs, inventory, affordability, and demand. Kansas City’s Zillow Home Value Index was $299,118 in 2024, a 3.8% increase year over year.
