Dad’s Bakeshop, Coffee, and Goods Opens in Southmoreland
This one’s for the dads. Dad’s Bakeshop, Coffee, and Goods is now open in the Southmoreland neighborhood.
Dad Life: Dad’s officially opened its doors last Friday, May 1st at 104 E 43rd St. It was opened by Shea Coffman, who renovated the space into a cozy neighborhood spot with a vintage twist (the bathrooms have a ‘70s dad van theme).
Stop In: Dad’s offers fresh-baked baked goods from Coffman, a coffee bar, and a curated selection of goods, including merch, candles, grab-and-go drinks, and more.
Dad’s is currently open Friday-Sunday, 7am-3pm (or until sold out).

KCI’s Fifth-Busiest Airline Shuts Down. How it Affects KC Travelers.

Spirit Airlines announced an immediate shutdown this past weekend due to financial hardships, leaving Kansas City travelers in a potential hole.
New Itinerary: According to the Kansas City Business Journal, Spirit Airlines was the fifth-busiest airline at KCI in 2025. It captured 2.5% of the airport’s market share, serving 144,582 passengers last year. This was down dramatically from 2024, when Spirit served 243,889 passengers out of KCI.
A Yellow Hole: The budget airline known for its bright yellow planes offered Kansas City travelers nonstop destinations to Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, and Orlando. Travelers can still find nonstop flights to Las Vegas on Southwest Airlines, to Orlando on Delta Airlines (seasonal) and Southwest, and to Fort Lauderdale on Southwest.
